A place to share things of benefit to Seekers as we travel through this world. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "What have I to do with this world? Obama Wins!
May Allah make this a means of better times for people all around the world. May He guide Obama to do that which is just, always. Ameen.
I watched with a lump in my throat both the speeches of McCain and Obama last night. I couldn't help but feel that it was something tremendous. What it may translate into for Muslims right now, may not be much different. Foreign policies will still work against the Muslims, however, for the minority of Muslims living in the west it did inspire hope. That a country, that was, and sometimes still is, so deeply entrenched in racism and horrific acts of brutality, chose to be different. The youth vote what really helped Obama was a key group that spoke out, making it all the more obvious that the voices of America are not the same old white voices. It rang true to the words of Allah that He only changes a people when they change what is in themselves. May Allah guide us always.
It is sufficient for my generation that we be remembered as the generation that elected Senator Barack Obama. May he renew the promise of America by the Grace of God, and may God guide him to the Truth.
Anonymous: Well said. Just seeing the faces in the crowd with eyes welled up, really brought home the symbolic value of his victory. McCain said it well, actually, when he spoke of the hope Obama restored in young people about the power they have.
Motamid: Indeed. Ameen.
And Salik and I were right there in Chicago just a day before! Too bad we had to come back because of work...*sigh*.
