Baba Farid

On the recommendation of a reader, I went to the library today and picked up two books and an article on Baba Bulleh Shah. Insha'Allah, I'll try to share things of benefit I find in the works (which are somewhat outdated in their scholarship).

The article quoted the following poem by another Punjabi poet, Baba Farid:

Farida duni wajaayi wajdi, tu'n wi wajje'n naal,
So-i jeev nah wajda jis Allah karda saar.

Strum the world, Farid, and it
Returns to you a tune. You
Are in the tune of your strum.
Seek refuge with
Allah if you wish to come
Out of the tune you strum.

  2. Wa'alaykum Assalam Sara,

Indeed! I wish there were more (good) translations of Punjabi Sufi poetry.

    Wassalam,
